Fire safety inspection in Roxas City ongoing
ROXAS CITY – An ongoing fire safety inspection is being conducted by the Office of the City Fire Marshall of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Roxas City in view of the start of classes.
“We have started our inspection of schools, universities, dormitories and commercial establishments late of May to ensure these facilities have strictly complied with fire safety regulations and standards,” said BFP – Roxas Fire Safety Enforcement Division Chief SFO1 Jim Deseo.
He added that about 16 dormitories and boarding houses as well as 12 schools have been inspected in the ongoing fire safety check up that will end up on June 11.
The anti-fire hazard campaign is in line with the directive of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ronaldo Puno to ensure a fire-free school opening season.
Sec. Puno issued the directive to BFP Acting Chief Rolando M. Bandilla to check all the fire safety requirements of school buildings, universities, commercial establishments, malls, hotels, inns, theaters, hospitals, residential and other similar establishments.
The directive also ordered fire safety inspectors to check all points of egress and give special attention to the food courts in malls where most LPG tanks which are potential sources of fire-related accidents are located. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
