DOLE, CPU ink MOA for DOLE Diamond Lecture Series
In its effort to bring its services closer to the students, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 6 will hold the 3rdleg of the Balik Tanaw, Bagong Pananaw Diamond Public Lecture Series on July 17 at Central Philippine University (CPU).
Some 800 students from various schools are expected to attend this lecture series which is part of the remaining activity of the DOLE Diamond Anniversary.
DOLE celebrates its Diamond year from December 8, 2008 to December 8, 2009.
The DOLE, represented by its Director, Aida M. Estabillo, and CPU, represented by its President, Teodoro C. Robles, inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last July 8 which stipulates the partnership of the two institutions in the dissemination of information on various services offered by the Department and orientation on the different labor policies.
Director Estabillo said this lecture series will give the students and various audiences the opportunity to know the Department’s historical eras aside from the information on the different DOLE services.
Estabillo added that the lecture series will also increase the students’ awareness on labor and employment issues and concerns and provide career advice to would-be workers through the Career Talk Seminar.
The lecture series is divided into two parts: the lecture on “Trade Unionism, Uso Ka Pa Ba?” with experts from big labor federations such as Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), Federation of Free Workers (FFW) and Association of Progressive Labor (APL) as speakers and the Job and Career Fairs.
After the lectures, students will be given the opportunity to interact with the speakers and discussants and share their views on the topics discussed.
