Reflexology training promotes RP Medical Tourism
BACOLOD CITY -- Bacolod City Councilor Wilson “Jun” Gamboa said that the on-going reflexology training at the New Government Center supports the move of the country towards strengthening its ground on medical tourism that aims to lure foreigners to the country to take advantage of its competitive, yet affordable medical services.
In his speech during the launching of the five-day “Reflexology Training Seminar” at the Masskara Hall of the New Government Center, Gamboa stressed the need of skills trainings like this that provides alternative livelihood to the participants that can give them profitable employment as the trend of wellness and fitness of many professional today include a visit to a spa for at least once a week.
With this trend, he predicts the demand for reflexologists in the coming days to grow as he expressed optimism on the recovery and growth of economies from the global financial meltdown.
The councilor said it is with the possibility the participants in this training can land a job that is utmost in his mind in supporting this endeavor.
“Let us dream of Bacolod City where people can have a decent life. Let us dream of defeating poverty that degrades people and the rob them of their dignity as human being,” he said.
Towards this end, the “government should provide the enabling environment and give people “Hope.”
Meanwhile, TESDA Provincial Director Yolanda Porschwitz announced that her office will shoulder the participants’ assessment fee of P500 needed for TESDA to recognize their skills.
She challenged them to continue undergoing training at TESDA provincial office in Talisay City where they can further improve their knowledge and skills in reflexology.
Porschwitz also urged the Bacolod City government to sponsor scholars in TESDA by entering into an agreement.
She announced that some courses are still open in TESDA with a P60 daily allowance for anyone who would like to attend, aging 15 to 55 years-old.
The training that started Monday, will end on Friday July 17. (PIA-LOL)
