DSWD-6 to release 5.8M for 4Ps
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI will release a total of P5.8 million to beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Iloilo City starting today until Thursday.
A total of 2,812 beneficiaries of the seven districts of Iloilo City will receive their subsidies.
In cooperation with the Land Bank of the Philippines and Iloilo City Government, 1,114 beneficiaries of Jaro and La Paz districts will get their cash grants amounting to P2,298,700 on July 21; 916 from City Proper and Molo with grants amounting to P1,914,700 on July 22; and 782 from Arevalo and Mandurriao with grants amounting to P1,508,300 on July 23.
This is the second release of subsidies to beneficiaries of 4Ps in Iloilo City. It can be recalled that the first release was conducted in May with a total of P5.7 million grants.
The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), a poverty reduction strategy, provides grants to extremely poor households to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly of children aged 0-14.
This program is patterned after the successful Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programs in Latin America and Africa. The conditions that the beneficiaries should comply are the following: Pregnant women must get pre- and post-natal care and be attended by skilled/trained health professional during childbirth; Parents or guardians must attend responsible parenthood sessions, mother’s classes, and parent effectiveness seminars; Children 0 to 5 years old must receive regular preventive health check-ups and vaccines, 3 to 5 years old must attend day care or pre-school classes at least 85% of the time, and 6 to 14 years old must enroll in elementary or high school and attend at least 85% of the time; and children 6 to 14 years old must avail of the deworming pills every five months. Non-compliance to the conditions will result in the suspension of the cash grants or dropping from the program.
