ANP’s Bulawan Awards
Bamboo Tonogbanua evaluates Gifts
and Housewares Bulawan entries.
“Bulawan” … Iilonggo for “gold”. The annual product-design competition of the Association of Negros Producers, aptly named “Bulawan Awards”, showcases the ingenuity of the Negrense entrepreneur, where member-producers bring their best foot forward by way of products that reflect excellence in craftsmanship.
It gets bigger and better every year, and the judges are the city’s most qualified experts who critique each and every entry until they can come up with the winner. This year’s winners are Art Energy (Felix and Cathy Hagad) for Home Furnishings; Crisvil Creations (Cris Villacin) for Bags and Footwear; Vito (Jojo Vito) for Luminary; Casa Carmela (Millie Kilayko) for Confectionary and Health and Wellness.

With the presence of the Department of Trade and Industry, judges scored the entries and tabulated the results. Chefs were the judges for the food industry like Jomi Gaston, Rolando Laudico, and Rico Cajili. Fashion designers judged the fashion and garments industry: Toni de Ramos, Ria Montelibano, and John-john Ditching. Acclaimed artist Bamboo Tonogbanua, together with Jun Delingon and Mylene Yulo were the judges for the Gifts and Houseware Industry. Judges for the furniture industry were Jun Delingon, Mylene Yulo, and Bernie Sason.
Much has been said about the success of the yearly Bulawan Awards of the ANP. It’s been around for 19 years, and when you see the world-class products of its members, you’ll know why this competition gets better every year.
