PURR
SM Culinary Festival: Master Chef
First of three parts
The WVCST student chefs with their
faculty.
The SM Culinary Festival held last July 20-26, 2009 was very successful. Proof of this was the overwhelming support from participating schools, sponsoring companies and the public. Then, those present learned a thing or two about cooking.
One of its biggest activities was the search for the SM Master Chef. Two eliminations were held last July 20 and 21 and those who won in these, competed for the finals last July 26.
Each team was asked to prepare five courses in just two hours. During the first elimination, the competing schools were Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus, West Visayas College of Science and Technology, St. Therese-MCC College and Central Philippine University.
Purr has learned several things from the first elimination. First, the adage, “you eat with your eyes” is true. Second, the plate is the frame of the food presentation; thus, it should be chosen with care. Third, the right color combination of the food on the plate should be given consideration. Makes you want to dig in fast!
