DAR launches Agrarian Reform Community in Passi City
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently launched Barangay Salngan in Passi City, Iloilo as the expansion area of Jaguimitan – Alimono Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) to help the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) improve their quality of life by developing the community along with the other adjacent barangays.
As a strategy for development DAR created the barangays that comprises the ARCs to maximize the delivery of support services that would help increase the productivity of farmers.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer (PARO) II Eberardo N. Erispe of DAR, Iloilo Provincial Office explained that an ARC is a convergence zone for the delivery of various support services such as infrastructure projects, livelihood and financing programs.
On the other hand, Assistant Regional Director for Operations (ARDO) Felicidad C. Bañares presented the Certificate of Confirmation to the officials of the ARC as a proof that Salngan is now officially included in the National ARC masterlist as priority area for Program Beneficiaries Development (PBD) intervention and foreign-assisted projects.
As identified by the residents of the community, their much needed support for development includes infrastructure projects like farm-to-market roads, post harvest facilities, basic social services such as potable water system, power supply, school and medical facilities.
The DAR is not only mandated to redistribute lands to the landless but is likewise tasked to help farmers become productive and self-sustaining through the provision of necessary support services.
On that same occasion, ARDO Bañares and PARO Erispe also distributed Certificates of Land Ownership Awards (CLOAs) covering more than 16 hectares to 13 farmers, giving them full ownership of the land they till.
