NOPPO leads anti-drugs symposium
BACOLOD CITY — Police Superintendent Armando Tubongbanua, deputy provincial director for operations of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, conducted a Drug Symposium/Anti-Drug Awareness lecture to more or less 300 students of the West Negros University last Saturday.
The first and second year college students, who are taking-up the National Training Service Program (NSTP), joined the lecture. It will be part of their campus organizations’ leadership enhancement sessions.
Atty. Juvy Yanson of the legal service of NOPPO, also discussed the Republic Act 8049 or the Anti-Hazing Law of 1995.
These lectures were made to remind the students that taking part in the fight of the Philippine National Police against drug abuse would be a great help to the organization, and also to make them aware that hazing is illegal.
The students took their pledge symbolizing their help in fighting drug abuse in the country.
Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix, NOPPO director, said that neighborhood involvement and partnership is important in attaining the TEAM NEGROS’ mission in ensuring a safe and secure Negros Occidental to live, work and invest.
