Cocoon-cooking machine turned over to OISCA
Gov. Isidro P. Zayco expressed his gratitude to Minister Jiro Okuyama of the Embassy of Japan for the cocoon-cooking machine worth P1.5 million that is intended for the use of the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) Training Center in Bargy. Tabunan, Bago City.
The machine was formally turned over in a ceremony, Tuesday, that was witnessed by sericulture farmers, finger spun-silk makers, OISCA trainees, students from Bago City schools, and other guests, with Okuyama as the guest of honor who was inspired by the success of OISCA and encouraged the workers to continue doing well to be more productive.
A certificate of appreciation was also given to each of the Most Outstanding Sericulture Farmers and Finger Spun-Silk Makers by Takehiko Sakata, secretary of the Embassy of Japan; Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. who is also the president of OISCA-Philippines; Shigemi and Thelma Watanabe of OISCA; Provincial Director of the Dept. of Trade and Industry, Rebecca Rascon; OIC Regional Director of Fiber Institute Development Authority, Evelyn Cagasan; and Provincial Director of TESDA-Negros Occ. Yolanda Porschwitz.
Also present in the activity were 4th District Board Member Mae Javellana, Bayawan City Mayor German P. Saraña, Councilor Bernadette Somcio who represented Bago City Mayor Ramon Torres and Ma. Merceditas Henson representing the Negros Cocoon Producers./Capitol News
