Dad saddened by termination of 9 staff
BACOLOD CITY — Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Wilson Gamboa, Jr., chair of the committee on transportation and committee on labor, confirmed recently that his two plantilla casuals and seven job order casuals were terminated by Mayor Evelio Leonardia after he manifested his abstention on the request made by the Local Chief Executive to give him an authority to sign a Loan Agreement amounting to P150 million with the Philippine National Bank.
Gamboa said that he could not blame Mayor Leonardia on the termination of his staff because it is the mayor’s prerogative, but he feels pity about the plight of the casual’s families.
The nine casuals (plantilla and job orders) were assigned to Gamboa after he was elected as Councilor in 2007.
He further said that probably this week, he will sit down with the Mayor and asked for explanation why his casuals assigned in his two committees were terminated. “I want to know the reason why and I will not make any appeal to the Mayor because it is his prerogative,” Gamboa added.
He also confirmed that as of now, he remains as a partymate of Leonardia under the group called “Grupo Progreso”. “Although I manifested my abstention in the Loan Contract with the PNB, It does not mean that I had jumped to another party,” Gamboa lamented.
He reiterated that he formally run last election under the “Grupo Progreso” and his loyalty remains to the group even up to this time.
On the other hand, Gamboa said that he manifested his abstention last special session because he wants that the Local Chief Executive will provide them documents pertaining to the “site development” and also the perspective plan relative to the acquisition of land at Brgy. Vista Alegre.
He said that he just asked one week deferment in order to clear all questions and matters pertaining to the loan document. Gamboa further said that he also manifested his abstention because he wants to know the status of all properties owned by the city government to determine if there is enough space for the squatters and likewise the assessment report as to the existing relocation site situated in Brgy. Handumanan, Fortune Town in Brgy. Estefania and the Abada-Escay Relocation Site in Brgy, Vista Alegre.
