Nicolas Sr.: I gave PDEA information about my son
It was Punong Barangay Nicolas Gonzalez Sr. himself who gave the information to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) that led to the arrest of his son Nicolas Jr. last Sunday.
Nicolas Sr. said he does not condone the illegal act of his son. He has issued several warnings to his son to stop his drug dealings but to avail. He said he could not discipline his son anymore.
He added his son must learn his lessons for ignoring the warnings. “He has been reminded of his pending cases before the court and yet he went on with his illegal works,” Nicolas Sr. said.
Nicolas Sr. vowed not to intervene in the case of his son. “His (Nicolas Jr.) incarceration is a way to impose discipline on him,” he said.
Even the Secretary (Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Raul Gonzalez Sr.) has already asked him to cease from involving himself in the sale and use of illegal drugs. Still, he continues to have his way in the illegal drug trade, said Nicolas Sr.
Raul Sr., however, denied he ever met Nicolas Jr.
Nicolas Sr. said, before the operation he has been giving information to the PDEA about his son. The PDEA used to join the Secretary in several gatherings and meetings, Nicolas Sr. said.
Meanwhile, Councilor Antonio Pesina confirmed he is the counsel of the suspect in his drug case pending before Branch 25 of the Iloilo Regional Trial Court.
Pesina is a known supporter of Raul Sr.
Pesina however made clear he only serves as the counsel of the suspect in his previous case and not in his new case. He said he will withdraw as legal counsel of Nicolas Jr. if he is charged of the same offense.
The councilor said he acted as lawyer of Nicolas Jr. because the latter’s wife came to him and asked for assistance.
In the previous case, Nicolas Jr. along with four others were nabbed by the joint team of the Iloilo City Mobile Group and PDEA after they were caught having pot session in the suspect’s house.
Pesina clarified it was not the former Justice Secretary who asked him to serve as counsel for the suspect in his previous case.
“The last time we saw each other, Nicolas Gonzalez Jr. was getting thinner,” said Pesina.
