UPV Iloilo City campus hosts voters registration
Those who have not yet registered for next year’s elections still have the chance to do so tomorrow, Wednesday, at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Iloilo City campus.
UPV College of Management Student Council in coordination with PPCRV/Namfrel and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will hold a voters’ registration for students who are first-time voters as well as anyone who has not yet registered for the May 10, 2010 elections.
Atty. Perla Garganera-Gauzon, a PPCRV/Namfrel volunteer for voters education, said the Comelec will start the registration of voters from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the lobby of Graduate Continuing Education Building (GCEB) of UPV Iloilo City Campus.
Gauzon said ABS-CBN will also partner with UPV-Iloilo for its related campaign on “Boto Mo, Ipatrol Mo.”
Iloilo’s students have strongly indicated their desire to actively participate not only in casting their votes as a well-informed voter but to be visible and campaign among their peers for a clean, honest, accurate, meaningful and peaceful (CHAMP) elections.
Keenly aware that the youth comprises 52% of voters who will cast their votes during the May 2010 elections, the PCRV/NAMFREL, is holding on-going orientation and education on voters rights and responsibilities as major stakeholders in the coming elections.
