Mayor Buenafe: My vision for Pres. Roxas is not yet finished
ROXAS CITY – President Roxas Mayor Rosauro Buenafe said that he still has a lot of things to do for his town as his first term is not enough to finish all his goals.
“I have not yet fulfilled my mission and vision nor finished projects in this town,” Buenfe told The News Today (TNT).
This was the reaction of Buenafe after some quarters said that he has only one term as mayor and his position will be taken back by his predecessors.
Buenafe, who is said to have been picked by the town’s political kingpin and his predecessors Locsin family to become mayor in 2007 election, said that he will not settle down as vice mayor or board member.
Reportedly, Buenafe was told to sacrifice to give way in favor of former Mayor Raymund Locsin, now board member, where he was offered a position of vice mayor or board member by the Liberal Party (LP) in 2010 election.
Former Mayor Ramon Locsin ruled President Roxas for almost 21 years while his son Raymund also inherited it for 9 years.
Buenafe was fielded by Locsin to run as mayor in 2007 to temporarily sit as mayor for one term then Raymund will come back to his post in compliance with the Local Government Code of 1991 which prescribed the term limits of elected public official.
However, Buenafe vehemently denied there was a condition that he will have only one term.
“I never abused my position as mayor of President Roxas and as long as I’ll be supported by the people, I’ll seek for reelection,” Buenafe said.
Buenafe started his political career in 1992 when he run as independent and won as Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member.
He finished his two terms as SB members and in 1998 he ran as vice mayor and successfully finished his three terms until in 2007 he became mayor,
Accordingly, Buenafe is groomed to be seeking a reelection bid for mayor against Board Member Raymund Locsin under the ticket of Former Department of Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante of Ugyon Capiz, Inc.
