No let-up in fight vs drugs
ROXAS CITY – The government is not letting up in its fight against illegal drugs.
Capiz Police Provincial Director Josephus Angan instructed anew all the policemen in the province to step up their campaign against illegal drugs.
Angan also expressed confidence that with community support, they can stamp out said social menace.
According to PNP Provincial Information Officer C/Insp Pablito Silvestre, the convergence and active participation of the public resulted in more accomplishments for the government, particularly in arresting the culprits.
Silvestre revealed that their records show that from January to July this year, a total of 10 drug related case involving 11 personalities was filed in court.
He added that last year, 11 persons were also convicted by the court for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law.
Earlier, Press Secretary Cerge Remonde reaffirmed the government’s stand of not putting an end to its no-nonsense campaign against illegal drugs, particularly methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
Remonde said that the efficient campaign of the government against illegal drugs came especially after President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo appointed herself last January as anti-drug czar.
The President, he said, has waged the anti-illegal drug campaign on the three fronts, namely intensified law enforcement, judicial action, and policy making, which involve prevention, enforcement, rehabilitation and after-care.
Remonde added that “on record, it is under the Arroyo administration that we discovered and busted drug laboratories including the recovery of shabu, its precursors and other paraphernalia.” (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
