City Hall hits 86% collections in 8 months
The Iloilo City Government has reached a high 86 percent in collections in the first eight months of 2009.
The City Treasurer’s Office collected P828,980,832 from January-August in pursuit of hitting this year’s P958,494,995 city’s budget estimate.
Business and other taxes topped the collections at P249,440,762 or 93 percent of the P269,360,000 target for the whole year.
Real property taxes collections amounted to P134,915,261 or 83 percent of P163,499,717 target for this year.
Non-tax revenue or various fees collected reached P77,008,488 or 98 percent of the target of P78,519,000.
The city-run public markets and slaughterhouse collected P32,504,756 or 94 percent of the target of P34,610,000.
The City Hall also received P335,111,564 or 81 percent from the initial releases of its P412,506,278 Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) share this year.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas is elated over this development, noting the successful collection can be attributed to the diligent efforts of the City Treasurer’s and Assessor’s offices and the cooperation of taxpayers.
He also cited the tax mapping activities implemented by the city treasurer’s and assessor’s offices.
Likewise, Treñas said the media advocacy on proper processing of business permits also helped in the tax campaign as it resulted to increase in the number of applicants securing their necessary licenses.
“Hopefully, the collections will go beyond the estimates for the whole year,” the mayor said. (PIO)
