SP to take preventive measures vs robberies
BACOLOD CITY — Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Al Victor Espino, chair of the Committee on Police Matters, yesterday expressed his desperation on the recent robbery case that occurred in broad daylight involving a lending firm.
Espino considered this case as “blatant” when two unidentified men held up a lending firm at Rizal-Lacson streets in Bacolod City at about 2 p.m. last Monday and took about P200,000 in cash.
According to the police report, Francis Ramayla, 34, manager of First Consolidated Cooperative told the police that one of the suspects was armed with a machine pistol, while another had a grenade.
Espino said that this matter will be brought out in today’s session as he is planning to propose a resolution designating a Liaison Officer between Bacolod City Police Office and the city government to seriously address the need of every police station.
“The Sangguniang Panlungsod will take up measures in today’s session on how to improve the support extended by the city government to the Bacolod City Police Office and further propose for a designation of a Liaison to update them on police operation,” Espino said.
He also welcomes the move of City Police Officer-In-Charge Senior Supt. Celestino Guarra to reactivate the Special Weapon and Tactics Team within this month to neutralize incidents like hostage-taking and other crisis management problems. Espino is planning to coordinate with all banking establishments, lending and pawnshop on how to adopt preventive measures against this form of criminalities.
Espino appealed to all this establishments to report immediately especially on the occurrence of robbery cases within the city of Bacolod. According to police report, the suspect in the robbery of a lending firm also took the cellullar phones of bookeeper before fleeing towards Lacson Street.
