Bantay Lansangan volunteers to hold first ever roadshow
It will be a dialogue and exchange of monitoring and experiences on the quality of roads in the Visayas, among Bantay Lansangan (BL) volunteers and Public Works and Highways officials.
This first ever Bantay Lansangan Roadshow and Learning Exchanges Conference will be held on September 23-25, at the Residence Hotel.
In a press release issued by the GHD professional services, the Iloilo City event is part of a series of regional roadshows designed as venues for sharing and discussing monitoring experiences of BL volunteers in the different regions.
GHD’s Media Specialist Roque Cesar said the activity is also a training workshop on tools on volunteer management, procurement monitoring and social accountability.
Cesar said BL is a partnership of multi-sectoral organizations that mobilize the active participation of members to act collectively and strategically in monitoring the performance of the DPWH in providing quality road sector services to the public.
A highlight of the roadshow is a dialogue between BL volunteers and DPWH regional directors from the Visayas, where findings and problems encountered will be presented and further plans be made.
BL was constituted through the Road Watch Project started in November 2007, under the Philippines-Australia Partnership for Economic Governance Reforms.
BL was constituted to monitor and advocate reforms in the Philippine road sector, to reduce costs for road construction and maintenance, increase road users’satisfaction and improve the public’s perception of the DPWH.
