REDCOP ‘best efforts’ to be recognized
The Center for Health Development (CHD) of the Department of Health (DOH) here will again confer awards on implementers of the Renal Disease Prevention Program (REDCOP) in Western Visayas for their exemplary performance.
Ms. Perla Gasalao, co-coordinator of the program in the region, said the awardees will be selected through a search for outstanding REDCOP implementers which is set to be conducted from September 24 to October 20 of this year.
Dr. Maria Lourdes Hembra is the other regional coordinator of the program.
Qualified to join the search are local government units, the academe, government agencies and other partner-institutions who support REDCOP and are involved in its implementation.
Gasalao said the evaluation activity was first undertaken in 2007 and conferment of the awards was done in 2008.
DOH-CHD OIC-Regional Director Ariel Valencia thanked partner-institutions for their “unfailing support to the program.”
REDCOP is one of the programs maintained by the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) to sustain its commitment towards the prevention or treatment of renal disease.
The Institute has embarked on a nationwide program on renal disease prevention in coordination with the DOH and other partners that focuses on advocacy and creating public awareness, among others. (PIA 6-JSC)
