Out Kikay Kit, In DOLE Kabuhayan Starter KITS
Are you a displaced Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) or OFW returnee? Do you who wish to start your own livelihood undertaking? If yes, then the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) can help you.
About 180 displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) or OFW returnees in Region 6 are expected to benefit from the DOLE’s new project called DOLE Kabuhayan Starter KITS under its Kabuhayan Program.
The DOLE Kabuhayan Starter KITS (KSK) is a livelihood formation strategy that intends to improve the socio-economic well-being of displaced OFWs or OFW returnees who became jobless when they return to the country.
“This project will help the displaced OFWs whom we called our “Modern Day Heroes” start quickly their livelihood undertakings and become self-employed when they come home,” said DOLE 6 Director Aida M. Estabillo.
Estabillo said this project is another government intervention designed to address the joblessness of Filipino expatriates.
“Marami tayong mga kababayan na gustong manatili dito ngunit wala naman silang trabahong mapagkikitaan,” she said. “Kaya ito ang sagot nang ating gobyerno sa kanilang problema,” she added.
The DOLE KSK aims to provide the OFW-beneficiaries with livelihood starter kits consisting of a package of services to help them plan, set-up, start, and operate their livelihood undertakings that will include Knowledge-sharing, Inputs acquisition, Training on entrepreneurship and Skills acquisition.
It will be launched in mid-October, this year.
The DOLE 6 has allocated the amount of P1.8 million to fund the livelihood projects identified by LGUs, OFCs and other associations of OFWs in Region 6.
The DOLE Provincial Offices are closely working with local government units (LGUs), accredited OFW Family Circles (OFCs), and other OFW associations in the identification of qualified beneficiaries.
