Roxas City’s ‘Sulong-tulong’ aid for Manila flood victims take off Oct. 14
ROXAS CITY –The city government under the leadership of Mayor Vicente Bermejo is scheduled to turn over a truck of relief goods and the amount of P500,000 as aid for the typhoon Ondoy victims on October 14, 2009.
City Councilor Ramon “Monchit” Albar told The News Today (TNT) that the truck loaded with relief goods will travel from Roxas City to Manila via roll-on roll-off (RORO) which will directly be delivered to PNP Headquarters, Hill Top, Cainta, Rizal at the PNP Provincial Office of Rizal province through Sr. Supt. Ereneo Dordas.
City Councilor Roger Delfin also said that the relief operations will be conducted at the towns of Angono, Tanay, Cainta, Baras and San Mateo, all in Rizal province.
According to him, one barangay of each town identified by the city government to have many Capizeños will be recipient of financial aid and relief operations.
He added that he was tasked to be an advance party among city councilors who will travel to Manila for the distribution. They are City Councilors Albar, Rolando Ignacio, Erwin Sicad and Jose Agdalipe.
Delfin also said that relief good operations and distribution of financial aids will be done for three days, October 14, 15 & 16.
Last week, Bermejo launched “Sulong-Tulong” which aims to gather relief goods and additional donations for the typhoon victims.
The Sangguniang Panglungsod in their special session last Thursday appropriated the amount of P500,000 purposely for financial aid for Manila flood victims brought about by Typhoon Ondoy.
He added that the donations will all be channeled to the City Social Welfare and Development Office and will be given to areas badly hit by the massive flooding brought by the said typhoon.
