Livelihood training for out-of-school youths conducted in Sigma
SIGMA, Capiz – Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. and municipality of Sigma with Mayor Maria Andaya in cooperation with Capiz State University (CapSu main campus), TESDA, and DOLE signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Mobile Technology School (MTS), a livelihood training seminar for the out-of-school youth on October 20 at Barangay Mianay this town
Andaya said that some 50 out-of-school youths participated in the said livelihood training seminar, 25 of them studied basic welding and the other 25 beauty care.
The lady mayor said that Sigma town is pioneering to give the unemployed land a job and livelihood through the MTS.
On the other hand, Tanco said that MTS will give an opportunity for out-of-school youths to have skills and livelihood as weapons in fighting against poverty.
“The government’s priority is poverty reduction which is caused by lack of education, employment and livelihood,” Tanco said.
According to him, MTS livelihood training, which transfer one place to another, is bringing the school closer to the out-of-school youths who are idle and unemployed.
CapSu president Editha Magallanes said that the duration of training is 30 days instead of 15 days so that graduates can avail a certification from TESDA that they could use in applying for jobs.
Also present during the MOA signing are: Engr. Kenneth Occeño, chairman extension, MTS team leader; Dr. Evaristo Magoncia, project implementor; Dr. Emmanuel Perez, project consultant; Mr. Esperedion Pelaez, coordinator; Mr. Remar Apolinario, coordinator and many others.
