NSO-NegOcc holds 18th Statistics Quiz
BACOLOD CITY — University of St. La Salle freshman Carlo Marpa bested 21 other freshmen from 11 universities and colleges in the city in the recent 15th Statistics Quiz conducted by the National Statistics Office in Negros Occidental.
Marpa comfortably placed himself in the first position after earning a total of 17 correct answers out of 20 questions in a two-round contest. Placing second is Bobb Michael Bokingo of University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos with 13 correct answers and Sharmaine Sayson also from USLS got the third place after breaking the tie with 3 other contestants.
The 3 winners will be accompanied by Coach Christine Joy Ballada of USLS and Coach Febe Quingco of UNO-R to represent the Negros Occidental in the Regional elimination which will be held on November 12 at Amigo Plaza Hotel in Iloilo City.
The judges during the statistics quiz include Mrs. Josette S. Terrora OIC-Principal of Murcia National High School, Eusebio R. Gale retired Statistician II of NSO, Olive Jade C. Braza SCO I of NSO.
PSQ is an annual contest geared to test college freshmen students’ knowledge in Statistics. It is being conducted annually as part of the National Statistic Month Celebration. As per Presidential Proclamation Number 647 dated September 20, 1990, October was declared as National Statistics Month. (NSO/PIA/EAD)
