CAPRISA Meet 2009
ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Filamer Christian College (FCC), for the second straight year is the over-all champion in the recent Capiz Private Schools Association Meet 2009 (CAPRISA Meet 2009) held September 22-26, 2009, hauls a total of 218 golds, 96 silvers and 121 bronzes in the elementary, secondary and tertiary levels, leaving Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC) as the 1st Runner-Up with 134 golds, 57 silvers and 35 bronzes in all levels; while St. Mary’s Academy of Capiz (SMAC) captured the 2nd Runner-Up in the elementary and secondary levels with 46 golds, 42 silvers and 22 bronzes. On the other hand, HERCOR College garnered the 2nd Runner-Up in the tertiary level with 21 golds, 87 silvers and 32 bronzes.
No less than the provincial sports czar, Governor Victor A. Tanco, Sr. was the guest speaker during the opening of the 2009 Capiz Private Schools Association, Inc. Meet 2009 (CAPRISA Meet 2009) at the Capiz Gym, Villareal Stadium. Athletes, coaches and delegation officials representing the 22-active CAPRISA, Inc. member schools participated in the weeklong CAPRISA Meet 2009 (sports, education and socio-cultural competition). This year’s theme is: “Youth Empowerment through Education, Culture and Sports”.
About 2,000 delegations composed of athletes, coaches, chaperons, trainers, officials and guests witnessed the opening ceremony inside the Capiz Gym, Villareal Stadium. Five Tertiary Level CAPRISA Private Schools (Hercor College, College of St. John-Roxas, Filamer Christian College, Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion and St. Anthony College-Roxas) and seventeen (17) Basic Education (Elementaty & Secondary Levels) member schools competed in 10 sports discipline – Atletics (B/G/M/W), Badminton (B/G/M/W), Basketball (B/M), Chess (B/G/M/W), Lawn Tennis (B/G/M/W), Sepak Takraw (B/M), Swimming (B/G/M/W), Table Tennis (B/G/M/W), Taekwondo (B/G/M/W), Volleyball (B/G/M/W) and in literary, musical and dance contests, both in Elementary, Secondary and Tertiary levels.
