INHS team dominates stat quiz contest
The Iloilo National High School Special Science Class (INHS-SSC) dominated the Statistics Quiz Contest held at the RDC Hall of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Building in Iloilo City recently.
The INHS-SSC team bested 34 other teams coming from the different private and public schools in Western Visayas to become the champion. The team received P4,000, a trophy and a certificate of recognition.
Teams from the University of the Philippines and Negros Occidental High School won second and third place, respectively. Both teams also received cash awards, trophies and certificates of recognition.
The Statistics Quiz Contest is one of the oldest contests and mainstay activity of the National Statistics Month celebration (NSM) in the region held every October.
Spearheaded by NEDA, the contest aims to develop appreciation of statistics theory and concepts among high school students.
This is open to secondary students officially enrolled in Statistics/Mathematics courses/subjects in public and private schools in the region.
This year’s judges are Ma. Isabel Blancia of NEDA, Eileen Grace Zurita of the Department of Agrarian Reform and Consuelo Virgula of the National Statistics Office.
Winners received their cash awards, trophies and certificates during the closing and awarding ceremonies of the 20th NSM held in this city on October 30. (PIA)
