Task force eyes political angle in killing of village chief
ROXAS CITY – Task Force Quios which was earlier formed by Sr. Supt. Josephus Angan, director of the Capiz provincial police office is following a political angle on the killing of Quios Barangay Captain Rolando Besorio.
In its finding, the task force revealed that Besorio was killed after his predecessor Dante Del Mindo was slain in an ambush last year.
However, the said task force is still facing blank wall as to the identities of the suspects who ambushed Besorio last week in Sitio Bocboc, Quios, Panitan, Capiz.
On November 3, Besorio was ambushed by 2 motorcycle riding suspects in broad daylight at around 11:40 a.m. upon reaching at the scene of incident.
Besorio succumbed to three gunshot wounds on his head. He was declared dead on arrival at Bailan District Hospital.
Mrs. Aurora Deocampo, one of the witnesses who was a companion of the victim during the time, said that the two suspects who were riding at the single motorcycle overtook them upon reaching the crossing in Sitio Bocboc then fired shots toward the victim.
According to Deocampo, the victim was driving a yellow multi-cab issued by the 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario for the barangay when the incident happened.
Mrs. Nejelia Besorio, wife of the slain barangay captain, said that her husband left their house around 8 a.m. going to the municipal hall where he solicited for the fiesta. He was ambushed while on the way home.
Besorio, being number one kagawad, replaced Brgy. Captain Dante Del Mindo who was killed in an ambush last February 26, 2009 during a benefit dance at Sitio Bocboc, Quios, Panitan, Capiz.
Del Mindo was one of the 13 supporters of Tingcupon Barangay Captain Richard “Bantit” Dadivas who loss in a toss coin to Incumbent Liga President Ignacio Deocampo when there was a tie during the liga special election last year.
On the other hand, Besorio was also supporter of Deocampo who is aligned with the administration of Mayor Kit Belo.
