Many more pols seen to join LP: Herrera
ROXAS CITY – Provincial administrator Mr. Zoe Herrera said that many more politicians in the local level will join the Liberal Party (LP) following the series of defections to the party in the national level.
Earlier, Mrs. Judy Araneta Roxas, mother of Sen. Mar Roxas, was here on Saturday to meet with political leaders where hundreds of barangay kagawads and barangay captains attended the said meeting at Esla, Lanot, the official residence of Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr.
Herrera also said that with already four city councilors who bolted from City Mayor Vicente Bermejo, the LP of Sen. Mar expects more to join him.
The provincial administrator also said that former political allies who abandoned the LP could not “bargain” anything from the Sen. Roxas.
“If you are not with Sen. Roxas, you are free, but you cannot “bargain” for something,” Herrera said.
Meanwhile, Pres. Arroyo will reportedly visit Roxas City in the coming days to give P40 million for the drainage system and flood control project.
The amount was personally requested by Mrs. Mariter Bermejo, wife of Mayor Bermejo, who happened to be the former classmate of the president.
Several months ago, P5 million worth of projects was the subject of word war between 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario and Bermejo. Del Rosario claimed that the amount was part of his CDF while Bermejo also claimed that it was part of his fund requested from Pres. Arroyo where the latter presented the SARO of the projects.
