2 ABC presidents ousted?
Two district presidents of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) supportive of Mayor Jerry Treñas were allegedly ousted by punong barangays who are supporters of Presidential legal counsel Raul Gonzalez Sr.
The two were ABC La Paz district president Carlos Guarin and ABC City Proper president Bobby Divinagracia. Guarin was allegedly replaced by Barangay Capt. Ernie Poral while Divinagracia was replaced by Barangay Captain Jeboy Jalandoni.
The posts of Guarin and Divinagracia were allegedly taken over by barangay captain-followers of Gonzalez. Divinagracia is a relative of Treñas’s wife Rosalie. Divinagracia was not reached for comment as of press time.
The replacement of Guarin and Divinagracia was in contrast with what is happening in the Gonzalez camp. In last Saturday’s convention initiated by Gonzalez, two ABC presidents were considered to run for councilors in the May 2010 elections. They were ABC Molo president Reyland Hervias and ABC Mandurriao president Ricky Mendoza.
In a radio interview, Guarin said he has no idea that he was already replaced by Poral as OIC of La Paz ABC though a barangay captain has informed him of their moves to appoint another leader supportive of the Gonzalezes.
Guarin admitted the Treñas-Gonzalez split has created a faction among the barangay captains. He said he is going to settle the matter over the so-called ouster move from his fellow barangay captains in La Paz.
He said he is set to call for a meeting to discuss the impending projects of the different barangays. There should be no politics in the meeting as the meeting will focus on the different projects, he said.
