Comelec-6 now ready for filing of COCs
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Region 6 or Western Visayas is now set to receive the certificates of candidacy (COCs) of those seeking elective posts in the May 2010 polls.
Comelec Regional Director Dennis Ausan said they have been preparing for the filing of the COCs for sometime already, and they hope that everything would just go fine.
The filing of the COCs for next year’s elections is from Nov. 20 until Dec 1, 2009. It is usually on the final day when local Comelec offices are being crowded by the candidates and their supporters who would troop for the last-minute filing of COCs.
“As the trend indicates, those who come during the first day of the filing of COCs are those candidates running for the lower positions,” Ausan said.
Meanwhile, Ausan said the Election Registration Board (ERB) continues to hear voter’s registrations for the May 2010 elections.
“The ERB decides whether to approve or disapprove the voter’s registration,” the Comelec official explained. (PNA)
