Leonardia brings home $1,630 from America for Brgy. 19
BACOLOD CITY – Mayor Evelio Leonardia arrived from Las Vegas, Nevada yesterday bringing with him financial help from Negrenses and Bacoleños in the United States intended for Brgy. 19 which was hit by a huge fire recently.
Leonardia turned over to Punong Barangay Jocelyn Uychiat a total of $1,630 or more or less P80,000.00 when converted to peso which he collected while he was in Las Vegas to watch the Pacquiao-Cotto fight.
Leonardia personally extended his gratitude to Marites Tronco, an alumni of Bacolod City High School and her group for $720; Jonah Lobaton and friends–$700 and Cres Vasquez Tumulak of Negrense of America–$110 as well as Ananias Boy Caro.
He also kept in touch with Al Denila of Bacolod Society in America and Ed Zayco of United Ilongos for help and he said they are on the process of making it.
Uychiat on the other hand said they are grateful for the help of the Filipinos in America through the efforts of Mayor Leonardia.
Uychiat said they will divide the amount to the fire victims and they would do the distribution on Thursday as they will distribute also their financial assistance from their barangay calamity fund.
Leonardia also reported to the people of Brgy. 19 that People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao will help the victims.
“I was told by Manny that I should make follow-ups when he comes back to the Philippines,” the mayor said.
Pacquiao made a commitment to help the fire victims either win or loss with Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto.
The mayor said he did not anymore inquire with Manny if how much is the help because it is quiet improper.
