Neg.Occ. PNP observes Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week
After a successful campaign in addressing the supply of illegal drugs in the province, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office shifts its sights to the annual observance of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week celebration from November 15-21.
NOPPO spokesperson Police Chief Inspector Rico Santotome Jr, the head of the Special Operations Task Force on Illegal Drugs, said that this year’s theme is “Kilos Pamayanan! Droga’y Patuloy Labanan”.
A series of symposia, seminars, lectures, tri-media activities and contests showcasing talents as well as theater arts and on-the-spot painting tilts have been lined up for the week-long celebration among the 31 PNP stations in Negros Occidental.
Santotome added that with the supply reduction strategy of the Negros Occidental PNP proving to be effective with the arrest of more than 150 illegal drugs personalities in the province for this year alone, NOPPO will focus more on the demand reduction aspect of the illegal drugs menace.
NOPPO director Police Senior Superintendent Manuel Felix stressed that with the arrest of illegal drugs peddlers in Negros Occidental through NOPPO’s no non-sense drive against the proliferation of shabu and marijuana in the province, drug-related crimes have been drastically lowered based on reports from the various police chiefs under his watch.
