Acanto declares candidacy for 3rd Dist. board member
Dr. Juanito Acanto, the immediate past President of Central Philippine University (CPU) and former member of the Provincial Board of Iloilo, has finally decided and announced his candidacy for the Board Member in the 3rd District of Iloilo this coming May 2010 election. He will run under the banner of Congressman and former Governor Arthur Defensor.
For the past experiences, Dr. Juanito M. Acanto has rendered government service for 25 years as elected Municipal Councilor of Janiuay (1964-1967), as appointed Municipal Judge of Badiangan (1968-1972), and as elected Member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Iloilo (1980 – 1986; 1988-1998).
He has also rendered service to a private educational institution as Professor and Dean the College of Law and as President of Central Philippine University.
Now still being strong and able mentally and physically, Dr. Acanto has declared his intention to continue to serve God through public service.
This will be the third phase of his life’s career. He has committed himself to serve the people of the third District of Iloilo, which he will represent, with renewed fervor as he has served them before, and with a different “flavor” in the service this time around.
