Ex-Rep. Dadivas on congressional bid: No turning back
ROXAS CITY – There’s no turning back, former 1st District Cong. Rodriquez “Roging” Dadivas will also throw his hat in the congressional race thus, there will be a 3-cornered fight among incumbent Cong. Antonio del Rosario, Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo and himself.
A reliable source told The News Today (TNT) that Dadivas will file his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) as independent on Tuesday as he is disgruntled with the Liberal Party (LP) leadership.
The group of Dadivas will be having a press conference on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at Cler Grand Hotel in Roxas Avenue Ext.
According to the source, Dadivas is disgruntled with the LP leadership especially Sen. Mar Roxas since he was promised to run for congressman in the 1st district instead of Rep. del Rosario who was said to be anointed by LP to run as city mayor against City Mayor Vicente Bermejo.
Dadivas, a good follower of LP, is a two termer 1st district congressman from 2001 to 2007. He has never sought reelection in 2007 election after Sen. Roxas asked him to sacrifice and quit to run in favor of Cong. Del Rosario.
The former congressman, is the father of incumbent City Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, the running mate of former Vice Mayor Allan Celino who was recently declared by Sen. Roxas and Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino as LP bet for city mayor against Bermejo.
Dadivas, it was learned, sacrificed not to run in his last term in favor of his son Ronnie, a first termer city councilor but abruptly promoted as vice mayor by the dominant party.
Ronnie whose wife is Joan Del Rosario is the niece of Rep. Del Rosario. Del Rosario, who was anointed by LP as bet filed his COC before the provincial Comelec here yesterday.
According to the source, the older Dadivas asked his son Junjun not to pursue his plan to run as Sangguniang Bayan member (SB) in Panitan.
