DOH-NCHP holds seminar on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases
The Department of Health through its Office of the Secretary National Center for Health Promotion (NCHP) is set to conduct a zonal media seminar on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases on December 2-4 at the Palmas Del Mar Resort in Bacolod City.
Experts are invited by the DOH to discuss issues related to the different emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases that the country faces today.
Expected participants in this zonal media seminar are representatives from the tri-media from regions 6, 7 and 8. Health Education and Promotion Officers (HEPO) as well as Information Officers from the three regions are also invited to this three-day seminar.
In a letter sent to PIA, DOH-NCPH expressed the need to invite the media in its advocacy for health in order for the practitioners to generate news stories that are balanced, accurate which will help the public cope with threatening diseases in the future.
The seminar dubbed as Media in Times of Pandemics and other Infectious Diseases aims to educate the media on the different facets of each and every high-profile health issues.
Topics to be discussed in the seminar include Leptospirosis, Rabies, A(H1N1), Dengue and Ebola Reston Virus.
DOH Assistant Regional Director Dr. Marlyn Convocar will deliver her message during the opening ceremony. (PIA/EAD)
