Bacolod City Comelec records 69 bets for 2010 polls
BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Comelec has recorded six candidates for congressman, four for mayor, four for vice mayor and 55 for city councilors for next year’s election.
Acting Election Officer Atty. Ryan Castro said the last day of filing of certificate of candidacy was peaceful and orderly.
Yesterday, the candidates and their representatives went to their office to do the counter checking of the names encoded before it will be forwarded to their central office for printing in line with the automated elections in 2010.
The six candidates for congressman of the Lone District of Bacolod City are: former LTO-NCR Director Ricardo “Cano” Tan, (Lakas Kampi CMD), Atty. Renecito Novero, (Independent), Dr. Anthony Rolando Golez, (Nationalist People’s Coalition, NPC), Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, (Independent), former Bacolod City Rep. John Orola, Jr. (Independent) and Ramon Vicente dela Cruz Fernandez (Independent).
The four candidates for mayor are: incumbent Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia, (NPC), Vladimir Gonzalez, (Partido Pagbag-o), Andrea Si, (Independent) and incumbent Bacolod Cong. Monico O. Puentevella, (Lakas Kampi CMD).
The vice mayoralty candidates are: Atty. Ana Marie Palermo, (Independent), Johram Alama, (Independent), Wilson Gamboa, Jr., (Independent) and incumbent Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, (NPC).

Castro is also expecting a petition from the camp of incumbent Councilor Alex Paglumutan (NPC) when a certain Alex Paglomutan also filed his COC for councilor as independent.
A slight difference can be found in their surname, the ‘lu’ and the ‘lo’. The incumbent councilor used the nickname ‘Bombo Alex’ while the other one used ‘Lex’.
Paglumutan said, his lawyer is already studying the situation in order to protect his name and to prevent confusion during the election day.
