Dad urges CEO to fast-track NDCC funded projects
BACOLOD CITY — Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Roberto Rojas, chair of the Committee on Public Works, yesterday passed a resolution addressed to Mayor Evelio Leonardia to direct the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) through Engr. Teresita Guadalupe to fast-track the completion of projects funded by the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) for the benefit of Bacolod City.
Rojas said that the Bacolod City Government received the amount of P10 million from the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) through Undersecretary Anthony Golez last December 2008 to fund certain projects in the city.
Rojas said part of the NDCC fund was utilized for the rehabilitation and restoration of the damaged drainage line along Libertad-Lopez Jaena St. Based on the status report submitted to the CEO, the accomplishment report was only 35 percent.
Rojas disclosed that another project which incurred delay is the rehabilitation of the drainage system along Lopez Jaena St. from the Fire Station going to the junction of Malaspina St. to Hilado St. with only 5.89 percent accomplishment.
“Even the rehabilitation of drainage line along Aguinaldo St. and B.S Aquino drive, Brgy 3 and Brgy 4 incurs delay with only 20 percent completion,” Rojas cited. He added that there is a need to fast-track the completion of this project as concerned citizens are complaining of the slow paced construction especially with the onset of the rainy season.
