Amigo Terrace Hotel turns 25
“The friendliest hotel with a heart in the throb of the city”, Amigo Terrace Hotel is celebrating its 25th anniversary today with a formal “dinner for a cause”. It will be a cocktail party featuring Richard Poon as the entertainer. An auction will also take place, with no less than Edu Manzano as the host. The items up for grabs were created by local artists as well as other valuable materials collected from certain individuals.
The Foundation
The proceeds of the sale will be donated to the Uygongco Foundation, Inc. It is a non-stock and non-profit organization that is centered on education. At present, it has 400 scholars coming from 10 schools of Guimaras, Capiz and Iloilo City. One school beneficiary is the Fort San Pedro National High School, home of Triby Pan-ay, the tribe that performed for the media and guests during the press conference held in relation to the hotel’s anniversary.
The foundation also holds a daily feeding program in five Iloilo City schools. The foundation has also lined up several programs that adhere to its mission of providing opportunities, instilling values and building good citizenship. Included in these programs are activities in support of day care workers and early child care and development, support on non-formal education (alternative learning system), sponsorship of trainings for school heads and teachers, assistance for school facilities development such as library and classroom desks, assistance for the production of instructional materials such as textbooks and workbooks, annual jobs fair to match new graduates and unemployed individuals with prospective employers or recruiters, career and industry talks or fora to help the youth explore various career possibilities and more.
The foundation’s slogan is “A better life for the community, a brighter future for our nation.”
