Judy belies promising to Dadivas LP’s congressional slot
ROXAS CITY – Mrs. Judy Araneta-Roxas, mother of Sen. Mar Roxas, strongly denied that she promised to former 1st District Cong. Rodriquez “Roging” Dadivas to have a Liberal Party (LP) congressional slot in the 2010 election.
Mrs. Roxas said, she asked Dadivas to prepare if Rep. Antonio del Rosario opts to run as city mayor as he (Dadivas) may be chosen by the party.
“But former Vice Mayor Allan Celino was chosen by the party to run as city mayor, thus, Cong. Tony (del Rosario) will be still running for reelection,” Mrs. Roxas told The News Today (TNT) at her residence in Brgy. Baybay yesterday.
On the other hand, Mr. Emmanuel “Tawi” Billones shared the same information that he never gave assurance to Dadivas regarding the matter.
Last Tuesday, Dadivas filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) at the Provincial Commission on Election (Comelec) purportedly to finish his “unfinished business.”
“No turning back, no retreat no surrender,” Dadivas said during the press conference held at Cler Grand Hotel right after filing his COC.
Dadivas said that he filed his COC because he was promised by Sen. Mar Roxas’s ally Billones and Mrs. Roxas to prepare himself to run for congressman since incumbent 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario will slide down to run as city mayor.
Dadivas, a loyal and good follower of the LP, was asked to quit from seeking reelection in 2007 in favor of Rep. Del Rosario. As a reward for his decision, his son Ronnie Dadivas, a first termer city councilor was elevated by the party to run as vice mayor and won.
Dadivas reportedly jump ship to Nationalista Party (NP) of Presidential Aspirant Manny Villar through Cong. Ferjenel Biron of Iloilo’s 4th District and Sapian Mayor Arturo “Turic” Orosco, Sr.
Meanwhile, Reelectionist Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas’ camp clarified that being an LP, he will support the party bet and not his father.
