P346-million Sta. Barbara Substation Transmission Line breaks ground today
The double circuit 138kV Sta. Barbara Substation Transmission Line will break ground today, December 10, 10:30 a.m. at the Panay Power Corporation compound.
Led by Global Business Power Corp. (GBPC) top executives, the groundbreaking rites will be graced by Iloilo Economic Development Foundation (ILED) chairman Felipe Uygongco and officials from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
The transmission line costing over P346 million will not only facilitate transmission of power from GBPC’s 164-MW coal-fired power plant to key clients particularly the electric cooperatives but will also enhance grid reliability for the Cebu-Negros-Panay Grid (CNP).
Target completion for the project is October 10, 2010 just in time for the start of the operation of the coal plant, now undergoing construction.
The transmission line is being constructed in coordination with the NGCP which traverses 17 barangays and involves the erection of 112 steel towers across 19 kilometers.
