Suspect in Leganes slay yields
As he professed readiness to face criminal charges against him, the suspect in Leganes killing voluntarily turned himself over to local police authorities.
Ricky Bolido, 21, of Brgy. Nabitasan, Leganes, Iloilo was fetched by members of Leganes Police Station at his friend’s house in Brgy. Buray, Oton town.
Bolido sought refuge in Oton after allegedly killing Remy Tadifa, 27, of Sitio Pangpang, Brgy. Gua-an, Leganes, Iloilo.
According to Bolido, rage got the better of him after seeing the suspect raping his 21-year old mentally-challenged cousin.
“Wala ko na napunggan ang kaugalingon ko sang nakit-an ko nga ginahap-an na niya ang pakaisa ko,” said Bolido, who was working at a fishpond near the area where his cousin was raped.
It was learned that Bolido’s uncle, a member of the Philippine Army, also facilitated for the suspect’s surrender.
Bolido might face homicide charge but police investigators are looking at the possibility of an amicable settlement since Tadifa’s family expressed willingness for an out-of-court settlement if the suspect would help them financially.
Meanwhile, the father of the 21-year old rape victim has expressed concern over the possibility that Tadifa impregnated his only child.
It was gathered that Tadifa allegedly raped the mentally-challenged woman thrice.
“Kami naman mahul-an sini kung magbusong ang bata. Ano pa gid na ayhan kung magbata? Kay siya gani, indi kasagod sang iya kaugalingon,” the father said.
To note, Tadifa’s body was discovered at around 10:00 in the morning of Saturday.
He suffered from hack and stabbed injuries.
