Former job-hires to receive cash gift from Gonzalez
Christmas may not bleak after all to job hires employees whose contracts of employment were not renewed by the city government as Presidential Legal Counsel Raul Gonzalez Sr. is set to give them “Christmas gift” out of his P5 million Countrywide Development Fund (CDF).
Gonzalez said he has already made coordination with the City Treasurers Office (CTO) of his plan to get the P5 million. The CDF has been with the city’s coffers since 2004. He was then the congressman of the city.
Gonzalez said it is his way of remembering the Ilonggos of the true essence of Christmas where giving and sharing with people is highly appreciated. They have also to prepare something for their families on Christmas Eve.
He did not categorically say on how much each job hire employees will receive out of the P5 million CDF. These former job-hire employees are relatives of punong barangays supportive of the Gonzalez’s.
The former Department of Justice (DoJ) secretary is running for mayor. His son incumbent Congressman Raul Gonzalez Jr. is seeking reelection in the May 2010 elections.
Gonzalez said the Christmas bonus will be distributed to the former job-hire employees of the city government as soon as the fund is released by the treasurer’s office. They will get the bonus at the office of the younger Gonzalez.
Meanwhile, Gonzalez said punong barangays who are loyal to him will also receive monies from as his Christmas present to them. He laughingly said they are already receiving something from him with or without Christmas. Probably, P20,000 each.
The Christmas gift from the Gonzalez’s for the punong barangays is apart from the P3,000 productivity enhancement incentive (PEI) from the city government.
They are entitled to receive such cash gift from the city government, said Gonzalez.
