Protest rally vs proposed loan contemptuous, says lawyer
ROXAS CITY – A protest rally against the proposed P683 million loan of the provincial government with the Philippines Veterans Bank (PVB) by concerned individuals would be ‘subjudice’ since the case is already in court, a lawyer told The News Today (TNT).
The lawyer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that should the organizers push through with the rally they could be cited for contempt by the court for bringing the fight against the loan in the streets while the mayor would also be impleaded.
It was learned that the civil case filed by Board Member Gilbert Ardivilla against the loan is pending at the sala of Regional Trail Court Judge Esperanza Isabel Poco-Deslate of Branch 19.
The said rally will reportedly be led by Ardivilla, an opponent of the loan. However, Ardivilla never admitted nor denied any involvement on the said planned protest rally.
Streamers printed with “don’t sell Capiz, no to P683 million” are posted in Roxas City plaza and several towns in both 1st and 2nd district of Capiz.
Earlier, former Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjco” Bolante urged Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. to improve tourism industry and scrap the P683 million proposed loan.
Bolante and Tanco are contenders in gubernatorial race comes May 10, 2010 election.
