105 IP families get free PhilHealth cards
ROXAS CITY – The National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) has distributed free PhilHealth cards to 105 Indigenous People (IP) families from various barangays in Jamindan town during a recent turn over ceremony.
Jamindan Mayor Ethel Jinon thanked the NCIP for the project as she also reminded the beneficiaries to use their respective cards in availing medical benefits in PhilHealth – accredited health facilities.
“The municipality was chosen by the NCIP as pilot area for this kind of project that is being implemented throughout the country,” said Community Development Information Officer (CDIO) in Jamindan Norma Chavez.
The project aims to extend particular services like health and nutrition, IP Community Early Childhood Care and Development, medical and dental services, and support to IP hospitalization, among others to far-flung Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC).
The simple ceremony was also attended by NCIP representative, tribal chieftains, and barangay officials from the town’s six IP barangays.
The NCIP is a government agency mandated to implement the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) of 1997. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
