10 Capiz incumbent mayors go for Gibo
ROXAS CITY – Ten incumbent municipal mayors in Capiz will probably ride with the flight of former Defense Secretary and presidential candidate Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro of Lakas-KAMPI-CMD while two others will support Sen. Manny Villar of National Party (NP) and the remaining four mayors will go for Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III of Liberal Party (LP).
Cuartero Mayor Roger Flores told The News Today (TNT) that some eight municipal mayors in the 2nd district of Capiz will definitely support Gibo and runningmate Edu Manzano, namely, himself, Joselito “Bobo” Escutin of Dao, Ethel Jinon of Jamindan, Rosemarie Gardose of Tapaz, Leslie Warren “Beboy” Benjamin of Dumarao, Lilia Castro of Dumalag and Felipe Yap of Ivisan and Jose Alba of Dumarao, all are running under the banner of Lakas-Kampi-CMD under the leadership of 2nd District Cong. Fredenil Castro who is also the chairman of Ugyon Kita Capiz (UKC) where former Agriculture Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante is vice chairman.
Flores said that he does not know who will be the presidential and vice presidential bet of Roxas City Mayor Vicente Bermejo and Panay Mayor Dante Bermejo of UKC but they are expected to support Gibo since UKC is affiliated with Lakas-kampi-CMD.
It was learned that Lakas-Kampi-CMD and UKC coalition, members are free to select their preference for national candidates such as president, vice president and senators.
Flores added that as members of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD in the 2nd district, they will support Gibo since President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo gave more projects in the 2nd district. He cited the P11.6 million grant to finance the water district in Cuartero and the president’s bridge ajoining Cuartero and Bgry. Angub amounting to P30 million.
On the other hand, mayors who already took their oath to support Villar are: Sapian Mayor Arturo “Turic” Orosco, Sr. and President Roxas Mayor Rosauro Buenafe. Orosco said earlier that he will support Sen. Mar Roxas as his vice president being a Capiceño.
Meanwhile, four incumbent mayors will also support Aquino and running mate Sen. Mar Roxas as vice president, they are Sigma Mayor Maria Andaya, 2nd district of Capiz; Panitan Mayor Kit Belo, Pontevedra Mayor Steve Contreras, Maayon Mayor Beligio Dueñas and Pilar Mayor Ritalyn Patricio, all of 1st district of Capiz.
