Dumarao mayor bares ongoing development projects
ROXAS CITY – Dumarao Mayor Leslie Warren “Beboy” Benjamin said that several development projects are still being undertaken by his administration for 2010.
Benjamin, who is seeking reelection for his third term, said that the town public market’s “bagsakan ng gulay” funded by the Department of Agriculture is under construction.
According to him, “bagsakan ng gulay” is the place where sellers and buyers coming from different places meet.
Also, the bagsakan center in several barangays such as Dacuton and Tumalalod are still being constructed.
He added that the construction of P1 million Zubiri Park at the town plaza funded by Sen. Miguel Zubiri is also being undertaken as well as the tennis court and many others.
Benjamin said that some 500 beneficiaries had been given PhilHealth cards in their town adding that the town has two ambulances, one at the low land while another one at upland where it is always ready to transport patients from the farflung barangays to hospital.
Meanwhile, he said that he is still holding office once a week at Dacuton where he has an extension office so constituents need not spend money, time and effort to reach the municipal hall for their transactions.
He added that in Dacuton, he also improved bagsakan of livestock where buyers coming from Iloilo, Roxas City and other places buy livestock at cheaper price.
Finally, he said that all barangays in Dumarao are energized by Capiz Electric Cooperative, Inc (Capelco) where he said that only 10% of sitios are not yet energized.
