PGMA grants funds for Cuartero, Dao water districts
ROXAS CITY – Cuartero Mayor Roger Flores said that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo through Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) granted funds for the establishment of a water district in his town and Dao.
Although he has no knowledge about the project in Dao, Flores revealed that in Cuartero, the LWUA had already released the amount of P11.6 million to finance the Cuartero Water District (CWD) first phase which covers three barangays such as Poblacion Takas, Poblacion Ilaya and Poblacion Ilawod which is expected to have some 1,000 water concessionaires.
According to him, he also requested another P50 million additional funds to finance the water district phase 2 which also covers four barangays such as Barangay Bitoon, Ilaya, Ilawod and Barangay Angub.
Flores said that the establishment of water district in Cuartero was conceptualized and requested by his administration during the blessing of Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) treatment plant in Panitan last two years ago from Pres. Arroyo who graced the blessing and inauguration of the said treatment plant.
Earlier, the scheme of loan was supposed to be 50 percent grant and 50 percent is payable loan however, it became 100 percent grant when 2nd District Rep. Fredenil Castro followed it up through LWUA Administrator Prospero Pichay.
He also said that a deep well located near the municipal hall with a depth of more than 27 feet below the ground is also being completed and once operational, rates for water concessionaires would be reduced considering that they will only pay the operation expense and not the loan.
Meanwhile, he said the manager of CWD is Mr. Rolando Mestidio and all board of directors are already in place.
