LP bets assure Ilonggos of fight vs corruption
ROXAS CITY – Liberal Party (LP) standard bearers Sen. Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III and Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas assured the Ilonggos on Panay island that their administration will adhere to the policies of an honest government. In several party caucuses held in different towns in Iloilo province last February 12, 2010, the LP bets presented to the people that poverty in our country could be attributed to corruption and the whole system of dishonesty in the government should be changed.
In a press release furnished to TNT, LP presidential bet Sen. Aquino said that because of corruption, many basic services in health, education and agriculture, all intended for the welfare of the Filipinos are affected.
“In education, we are facing several problems such as lack of classrooms, books full of errors and dilapidated school facilities,” Aquino said. “How can we expect to produce quality graduates which will man our industries if we have these predicaments?” he added.
Meanwhile, LP vice presidentiable Sen. Roxas, who is a genuine Ilonggo, is proud that Sen. Noynoy Aquino is his running mate. He told the Ilonggos that he had never met a man who is more humble, more sincere and not greedy to power than Sen. Aquino.
“Imagine, he is the son of former president Corazon Aquino, but he was never involved in any scandals or anomalies. He never used his position for his personal gains and profits, that’s something that we should emulate,” Roxas quipped.
Sen. Aquino also expressed the same feelings regarding his partner Sen. Roxas, saying that he is honored to have him.
“Sen. Mar, being the president of the LP is prepared to be the standard-bearer for president, but he makes the noble sacrifice of stepping down for me, answering the call of the people, selflessness and that’s what our country needs,” he revealed.
Together with them during the LP sortie are Senatoriables Franklin Drilon, Alex Lacson, Cong. TG Guingona, Cong. Ruffy Biazon, Cong. Neric Acosta, Akbayan Partylist Representative Riza Hontiveros – Barraquel and Yasmin Busran-Lao.
