Groundbreaking for P55M district hospital in Dao held
DAO, Capiz—Department of Health (DOH) regional office and the provincial government led by Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr, held a groundbreaking ceremony and laying of time capsule for the construction of P55 million building of Sen. Gerry Roxas Memorial Hospital in Barangay Balucuan here yesterday morning.
Tanco, in his message, said the project is part of his vision for a healthy Capiceños to have a hospital in Dao which would greatly decongest patients in Mambusao District Hospital and Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital in Roxas City.
“It’s long been a dream to have a hospital and nothing is impossible,” Tanco said adding that the site is accessible than the old hospital which is already dilapidated and situated in a flood-prone area.
It was learned that the construction of the hospital was awarded to Kirskat Venture owned by Engr. Leodigario Labao who won during the bidding in the amount of P34.9 million.
The proposed hospital will be erected at the 1.5 hectares lot purchased by the provincial government from Elsa Bauson.
Tanco also said that the funds were finance by DOH while the counterpart of the province is only the site.
The said groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by Asst. Regional Director Marlyn Convocar of DOH who also delivered her message, Dr. Elmer Bucayan and other doctors from Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).
It was also attended by Provincial Engineer Edgar Agana, Engr. Roberto Acevedo, representative from Kirskat Venture, Liberal Party (LP) mayoral candidate Mrs. Lilia Griño, vice mayoral candidate Paterno Cobrador, sangguniang bayan member candidate Essex Quintia and party as well as members of the local media.
