KEPCO-SALCON funds line extension to 184 villages
The Korean Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), in partnership with SALCON Power Corporation, and in coordination with Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENECO), will finance the line extension of 184 sitios/purok under CENECO’s coverage areas. Beneficiaries of this project are people from far-flung areas who have no electricity yet and were identified to be potential electricity consumers during a series of surveys conducted by representatives from KEPCO-SALCON and CENECO.
CENECO’s coverage areas include the cities of Bacolod, Silay, Talisay and Bago, and the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto. Based on the results of the survey, 23 sitios or purok from Bacolod City will benefit from the said project, 2 from the Municipality of Murcia, 80 from Bago City, 47 from Silay City and 32 from Talisay City.
As of this time, 19% of the project had already been accomplished which is equivalent to, more or less, 35 sitios or purok, as reported by Engr. Mario L. Nicolas, General Manager of MN Electro Industrial Supply & Services, the contractor of the said project.
KEPCO-SALCON is reported to have allotted a big amount for this line extension project as their way of helping people who are deprived of enjoying the comforts of having electricity. This is a result of the contract entered into by KEPCO-SALCON and CENECO. The line extension is a nationwide project of KEPCO-SALCON which means that beneficiaries of this project is not only CENECO, but the other electric cooperatives throughout the country as well.
