18 LGUs to compete in festival dance competition
BACOLOD CITY — A total of 18 local government units will compete in this year’s Panaad Festival Dance Competition that will be held on the first day of the weeklong Panaad sa Negros Festival on March 20.
The competition is open to the towns and cities of Negros Occidental but only one entry per town or city is allowed, as stated in the guidelines.
The competing groups for this year are Bago City’s Babaylan Festival, Cadiz City’s Dinagsa Festival; Kabankalan City’s Sinulog, La Carlota City’s Pasalamat, San Carlos City’s Pintaflores, Talisay City’s Minulu-an, Sipalay City’s Pasaway sa Sipalay, Escalante City’s Manlambus, Calatava’s Hudyaw Festival, Cauayan’s Lubay-lubay Festival, E.B. Magalona’s Ugyonan Festival, Hinoba-an’s Pagbanaag Festival, Isabela’s Tigkalalag Festival, La Castellana’s Bailes de Luces, Murcia’s Tinabu-ay Festival, Pulupandan’s Salapan Festival, San Enrique’s Bulang-bulang Festival, and Valladolid’s Pasundayag Festival.
The performance of each group, that is limited to a maximum of seven minutes, will be at the Panaad stage and each must have a minimum of 20 members and a maximum of 50 members including props men on stage.
The criteria for the dance competition are the following: choreography 30%, performance 30%, theme or concept 20%, costume 10%, music 5% and hand props 5%.
First place will receive P70,000 cash, second place P50,000 and third place P30,000. (Capitol News)
