Cook, kin probed for ‘embezzling’ hospital’s supply
A cook of the West Visayas State University Medical Center (WVSUMC) and his two relatives are now under investigation for allegedly stealing hospital-owned sacks of rice.
The incident was discovered after WVSUMC security guards became suspicious that 13 sacks of rice were to be transported at a wee hour of the night.
The rice bagged in yellow sacks, which were again put in a white sack labeled as sugar, were traced to have come from the hospital’s dietary department.
It was gathered that the rice, along with a bags of apples, were placed at a multi-cab owned by Noel Judierez, WVSUMC chief cook.
But during the incident, the multi-cab was driven by Ely Serra and his nephew, Mark Anthony Jalandoni.
After they got intercepted, members of Jaro Police Station came to investigate and invited Judierez, Serra, and Jalandoni for questioning.
“Lately, may report na sang losses sa mga bugas. As a matter of fact, nakahimo na ang in-charge sang department nga ini sang report,” said Jaro PNP investigator PO1 Guiller Alacre.
Meanwhile, Judierez allegedly reasoned that he owned the sacks of rice which were, coincidentally, placed in the same sacks, as that of the WVSUMC.
However, he is yet to prove his alibi, as the hospital management wanted a thorough investigation of the incident.
